Kenya Yearbook takes part in strategic Budget meeting

By KYEB Team.

As part of its commitment to prudent resource management and better planning, the Kenya Yearbook Editorial Board (KYEB) is participating in a meeting to develop the financial year 2025/2026 Budget proposals for the Energy, Infrastructure and ICT sector.
The KYEB team at the meeting being held in Naivasha is led by Chief Executive Officer Lilian Kimeto. The meeting seeks to ensure there is smart allocation of funds in the sector and others for national development. Eng. John Tanui, the Principal Secretary in the State Department of ICT and the Digital Economy, who is also the chairperson of the sector, said it is important in the country’s development.
The sector serves as the foundation upon which other industries thrive for economic growth.
The energy sector powers industries and homes, while infrastructure supports movement of people and goods and ICT drives innovation and connectivity. “To ensure the maximisation of impact and optimisation of outcomes, it is imperative that the Government adopts an integrated approach to resource allocation within this crucial sector,” Eng. Tanui said. He noted that with focus moving on job creation and facilitating the rapid growth of the private sector, the journey towards economic prosperity is being expedited.
Eng. Tanui emphasized the need for smart resource allocation and urged the teams to learn from international success stories, citing South Korea’s economic rise—often referred to as “The Miracle of the Han River”—as an example to emulate.
The meeting brings together teams from State Corporations and Directorates in the sector, as well as the National Treasury, which is guiding the process.
